Question:
What are the exclusions under Third party and Comprehensive car insurance?
Answer
All car insurance plans come with certain exclusions. Being informed about these ensures you understand your policy and can decide whether extra coverage is required.
Third-Party Insurance
- Does not cover damage to your own car.
- Theft of the insured vehicle, fire damage (own vehicle), vandalism and non-fault damage to your vehicle (unless upgraded to comprehensive)
- Accidents caused by driving without a valid licence, under influence of alcohol/drugs, or intentional acts.
Comprehensive Insurance
- Mechanical or electrical breakdowns (i.e., general wear & tear, engine malfunctions) rather than accident damage
- Driving without a valid licence or with an expired licence
- Intentional damage or illegal use of the vehicle (e.g., participating in a race, crime, using vehicle for commercial activity when insured for private use).
- Damage incurred while driving outside the policy’s geographic coverage (unless an extension/add-on is purchased)
- Accidents caused by driving without a valid licence, under influence of alcohol/drugs, or intentional acts
