Assistant Vice President – Motor

Job Description
This person will be responsible for leading the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the motor insurance division. This role involves overseeing the development of insurance products, managing underwriting activities, claims processing, pricing strategies, risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The individual will drive innovation, improve customer satisfaction, and ensure the profitability and growth of the motor insurance portfolio.
Eligibility Criteria :
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the business strategy for the motor insurance line, aligning it with the company’s overall goals.
- Identify growth opportunities in the motor insurance market, including new product development and market penetration strategies.
Underwriting & Risk Management:
- Oversee the underwriting policies, ensuring adherence to sound risk management practices.
- Develop and refine risk assessment tools and models to improve underwriting accuracy and reduce loss ratios.
- Lead the pricing strategy for motor insurance products to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
Operational Efficiency:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the underwriting, claims, and customer service processes.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of technology and automation to streamline operations and enhance customer experience.
Claims Management:
- Oversee the claims process, ensuring timely, efficient, and fair handling of claims.
- Develop strategies to reduce fraud and improve loss adjustment expense.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards in the motor insurance space.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and their potential impact on the business.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports to the executive team and board of directors.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing motor insurance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the division.
Financial Performance:
- Manage the financial performance of the motor insurance portfolio, ensuring it meets or exceeds profitability targets.
- Monitor key financial metrics, including loss ratios, combined ratios, and revenue growth.

Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field. A master's degree or professional qualification (e.g., ACII) is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the motor insurance industry.
- Proven track record in driving profitability and growth in motor insurance lines
